SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University mens' and women's swimming teams suited up for the first time this season Sunday morning for their Intrasquad Time Trial and Senior Day at the James W. Garret Sports Complex Natatorium.
Following the races, the River Hawks honored the 10Â amazing seniors -
Kipp Astin (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville Penn), captain
Brooke Boes (Westwood, N.J./Westwood Regional),
Alex Ferris (Newtown, Conn./Newtown),Â
Brandon Heese (Washington Crosing, Pa./Council Rock North),
Luke Henry (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), captain
Owen Kelly (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca),
Larissa MacDougall (York, Pa./Northern),
Rachel Morehouse (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area),Â
Anthony Principe (Rockaway, N.Y./Morris Knolls), and
Brett Walker (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) - on their incredible collegiate swimming & diving careers.
On the women's side, a total of four lifetime best times were recorded in three different events. One of those best times came fromÂ
Boes, who won the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.40.Â
Boes also finished first in the 100 breaststroke and touched second in the 100 freestyle. Sophomore
Julia Adams (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) hit the wall first on three separate occasions, as
Adams won the 50 freestyle, the 50 backstroke, and the 100 backstroke. Fellow sophomore
Haley Muth (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) also won her respective events, taking first in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events, along with the 100 butterfly.
In the men's competition, the sophomore trio of
Jayden Corrigan (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield),
Andre Fissella (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), and
Jack Imburgia (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) won four total events.Â
Corrigan won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke events while
Fissella clocked the top time of 27.06 in the 50 breaststroke and
Imburgia touched first in the 100 freestyle. First-year
Brendan Alvino (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) swept his events in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly with a 20.99 and 50.99, respectively. His 50 free time unofficially puts him second in school history, and his 50.99 100 butterfly unofficially broke both the pool and school records.
Susquehanna men's and women's swimming & diving teams will be back next fall to compete in Landmark Conference action.
