Susquehanna Baseball Has Four Honored On All-Landmark Squads

SELINSGROVE, PA (May 16, 2022) -- The Landmark Conference office released the 2022 All-Landmark Conference baseball squads, and four Susquehanna University baseball players earned spots on one of the two squads. Sophomores Sean McCulloch and Kris Morrow joined senior Dillan Weikel on the All-Landmark Conference First Team, while junior JP Yore was a Second Team honoree.

McCulloch was one of four outfielders named to the Landmark Conference First Team, as the sophomore had a banner year for the River Hawks in 2022. The sophomore set the Landmark Conference single season record for stolen bases in a season with 36, breaking a 13-year record set by Chris Stallone of the University of Scranton back in 2009. McCulloch led the River Hawks in hitting with a .335 batting average, playing in 41 games while also leading the team with 14 doubles and 52 hits. McCulloch was third in the conference in two-baggers, while his hit total was sixth-best in the league. His 69 total bases were the 11th most in the league. McCulloch was SU's first outfielder to make First Team since 2019 when Steve Lorenz was honored.

Morrow had a strong year, as he led the team with a .550 slugging percentage and seven home runs. He also was second on the team with 50 hits, adding 12 stolen bases to his eight doubles and two triples. Morrow hit .331 on the year, and his OPS of .988 was in the Landmark Conference top 10. Morrow was third in the Landmark Conference in homers, while his 83 total bases ranked sixth. He also walked 26 times, seventh-most in the Landmark, while his slugging percentage was eighth in the Landmark. His 33 RBI were a team high as well, ranked 10th in the conference on the season.

Weikel had a strong season on the bump for the River Hawks, as he earned Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week times. Weikel started a league-high 12 games, while finishing 5-3 on the season with a 3.25 ERA. His ERA was third in the Landmark Conference, while he was also third in strikeouts with 61 and innings pitcher with 69.1. He struck out 7.92 batters per nine innings, which ranked ninth in the conference while allowing hitters to bat only .223 against him for the season. Weikel also had a 2.95 ERA within Landmark Conference play, going 3-1 against league foes. His three Pitcher of the Week honors in 2022 was tied for the most with Catholic's Tucker Alch.

Yore earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team, as he batted .250 for the season with four homers and 19 RBI on the season. He scored 22 runs and posted 25 hits, three doubles while slugging .420 on the campaign. Yore had six games in 2022 with multiple hits, including going 3-for-6 with a double and homer back in March against Vassar College.

The Landmark Conference named Catholic's Peter Giombetti and Alch as the Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, while the Cardinals' Dante Pozzi was the Rookie of the Year. University of Scranton's Mike Bartoletti and his staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year.
