SELINSGROVE, PA (September 3, 2024) - The Susquehanna University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have announced their schedules for the 2024-2025 season with both teams looking to improve upon last year. The program also embarks on their newest chapter with first-year head coach Kelley Hilliker leading the way.
The River Hawks make their season debut at home hosting the Ged Schweikert Relays on Oct. 18 as part of Susquehanna's Homecoming Weekend.
After this both teams will be on the road for their next seven meets of the season, starting with a dual meet at Elizabethtown at 2 p.m. on Oct. 26. Following this is three straight non-conference dual meets at Bloomsburg University on Nov. 2, York College of Pennsylvania on Nov. 8, and Messiah College on Nov. 9.
The River Hawks then return to Landmark Conference play with their first tri-match of the season on Nov. 15 in Huntingdon, PA against Juniata and Lycoming, then the next day traveling to New Jersey to take on Drew.
The following week is the Misericordia Cougar Splash Invite, taking place across two days from Nov. 22-23, which will be the last time both teams are in action in 2024.
Susquehanna returns from their hiatus on Jan. 11 for their first meet at Garrett Complex Natatorium since October against Moravian and Goucher. The River Hawks will remain at home for their next meet against Scranton on Jan. 18.
From here on out both teams finish the season on the road at Marywood University on Jan. 25, and at Washington College in Maryland on Feb. 1. For the women's team, that last meet will be a triple meet with Washington College and Bryn Mawr College before both teams go back to Maryland for the Landmark Conference Championships from Feb. 13-16 to close out the year.
Coming into this season, the men's team remains mostly intact, while the women's team features more turnover, losing six seniors from last year's squad. The men's team featured seven first years on last season's roster such as Dan Venuti, Joey Wayne, and Kyle Long, who had impressed during the Landmark Championships back in February.
The women's team still retains the likes of Julia Romano, Ashley Derrick, and Emma Church who all brought home medals during last year's Landmark Championships. Romano earned silver in the 1M dive, Church earned bronze in the 400-medley relay, and Derrick brought home two bronze medals for her part in the 400 and 200-medley relay, respectively.
