Senior Middle Hitter Veronica Kirchner excelled on both offense and defense for the Susquehanna Volleyball squad during their three weekly matchups last week. Going 2-1 on the week, the River Hawks had victories against Scranton and Swarthmore and a loss against Johns Hopkins. Along with 11 kills, Kirchner tallied 18 total blocks in the three-game span.

Against Scranton, Kirchner had six kills, one away from her season high of seven against Mount Union, and five block assists.

Kirchner was able to contribute two kills, two solo blocks and three block assists against Swarthmore.

Against Johns Hopkins, Kirchner had a season high of total blocks, getting eight in the match. She also had three kills in the match.

Following this week, Kirchner is the team leader in blocks with 73. For her efforts, Kirchner has been named this week’s River Hawk of the Week. The Susquehanna Volleyball squad will look to continue their run of form with a match against Bloomsburg and for their appearance in the Emory Invitational, in which they will face two top ten teams in the nation.
