Chris Vialonga Sports Performance Center
The Chris Vialonga Sports Performance Center is named in honor of Chris Vialonga '93, a standout lineman on Susquehanna University's football team from 1989 through 1992. "Vio," as he was know, played for the 1991 South Region Championship squad that advanced to the national semifinals. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, a brotherhood that fostered deep and lasting friendships. Chris tragically lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001, in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, where he worked as a currency trader for Carr Futures. His enthusiasm and toughness, combined with his kindness and his generous spirit, were qualities that attracted so many into his circle.
In 2015, Susquehanna Athletics hired its first strength & conditioning coach to address a longstanding competitive need. With the enthusiastic encouragement from Chris' many friends, teammates and "brothers," funds were raised to renovate and expand the existing weight room in honor of Chris, giving current and future athletes the competitive edge that comes from superior training and conditioning. The Chris Vialonga Sports Performance Center was dedicated on Sept. 10, 2016.
The distinguished group of benefactors whose generosity made the "Vio Center" possible, demonstrate their commitment to the hard work and competitive spirit that defines Susquehanna Athletics.
From ample equipment to a modern design, the “Vio Center” is intended to inspire both current athletes and new recruits by demonstrating Susquehanna's commitment to athletics. The center accommodates more athletes in less time with a 14-rack system, making workouts more efficient and productive.
