Sophomore Eric Towse had a historic outing this past weekend at the 2020 Landmark Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
On Day 1 of the meet, Towse broke his own school record (51.58) in the 100 backstroke as he swam a 51.41 as the lead-off leg of the third-place 400 medley relay. Then, in the morning of Day 2, he surpassed the previous night's mark by clocking a 51.21 in the preliminaries before posting a 50.36 to win the 100 backstroke that night and pick up All-Landmark First Team honors.
On Day 3, Towse picked up another school record as he beat his own mark of 1:52.25 in the 200 backstroke, which he set on November 30, 2018, in Sunday's preliminaries with a time of 1:51.99 to be seeded No. 1 heading into the finals. Towse then collected his second All-Landmark First Team award of the weekend as he touched the wall first in the 200 backstroke final with a time of 1:52.04.
Towse has been named River Hawk of the week for his efforts.
