Robert I. Estill Field House
The Robert I. Estill Field House gives River Hawk student-athletes a year-round training advantage and serves as one of the signature facilities within the James W. Garrett Sports Complex. This modern, 51,000-square-foot facility was designed to support high-level competition, daily development and the complete student-athlete experience across multiple sports programs.
Inside the Estill Field House, River Hawks have access to four multi-sport courts that accommodate basketball, volleyball and tennis, as well as expansive indoor practice space for field sports and a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track. The versatility of the facility allows teams to train consistently throughout the year — regardless of weather conditions — while providing student-athletes with the space and resources needed to continue improving every day.
A striking floor-to-ceiling glass wall fills the facility with natural light and overlooks adjacent Doug Arthur Stadium, creating a uniquely connected environment that reflects the energy and pride of River Hawk Athletics. Whether preparing for championship competition, completing offseason workouts or hosting team practices during the winter months, the Estill Field House helps Susquehanna student-athletes maintain a competitive edge year-round.
For recruits, the field house represents Susquehanna’s commitment to maximizing opportunity and investing in the long-term success of its student-athletes. It is a place where preparation meets performance; where athletes can develop their skills, strengthen team chemistry and pursue their goals in a first-class collegiate environment.
The Estill Namesake
Dedicated in 2022, the Robert I. Estill Field House honors Bob Estill ’65 and his significant philanthropy supporting Susquehanna Athletics and campus improvements. In addition to funding capital projects and athletic equipment, Estill established the Robert I. Estill Endowed Scholarship Fund to support students with financial need.
As a student-athlete at Susquehanna, Estill competed in varsity football under legendary coaches Jim Garrett and Bob Pitello, serving as an offensive tackle and team captain. He was also active in campus life as a member of the university’s business society and Phi Mu Delta fraternity before going on to a successful career in accounting, construction and real estate. His legacy continues to shape the experience of today’s River Hawks both on and off the field.
