SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Each Susquehanna University singles and
doubles entry topped the visitors from Penn State
University-Harrisburg in a 9-0 non-conference women's match at the
James W. Garrett Sports Complex tennis courts on Oct. 10.
Sophomore Julia Lerner (Arlington,
Va./Washington-Lee) won a straight-sets match at
first-flight singles for Susquehanna (4-1 overall), 6-0, 6-3, over
her PSU-Harrisburg (2-5 overall) opponent.
Freshman Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville)
won at second-flight singles, 6-0, 6-4. Freshman Ellen
Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception)
recorded a straight-sets victory from the third flight, 6-3, 6-0.
Junior Whitney Arcaro (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton
Area) was another straight-sets winner at fourth-flight,
6-3, 6-0, while freshman Dana Freshley (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick) claimed the fifth-flight point, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore Cassie Zerbe (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area)
recorded the final straight-sets victory from the sixth flight,
6-0, 6-2.
The team of Pulsinelle and Lerner
outmatched their opponents in first-flight doubles, 9-7. Freshmen
Kim Rogers (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and
Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) cruised
to victory in the second flight, 8-1. Senior Jessi Hass
(Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and sophomore
Allison Killeen (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy)
won third-flight doubles, 8-0.
