SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior midfielder
Dan Niesen (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg)
headed in a free kick from fellow junior midfielder Brandon
Eisenhart (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) in the 58th
minute, but Susquehanna lost in overtime to the visiting United
States Merchant Marine Academy, 2-1, in a Landmark Conference men's
soccer game at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 17.
The USMMA (14-1-0, 5-0 Landmark) struck first in the 31st minute
before SU tied the game at 1 to eventually send it into overtime
where the Mariners scored with just 2 minutes, 44 seconds left in
the first extra period.
Susquehanna (5-9-1, 1-3 Landmark) edged the USMMA in shots on
goal, 7-5, and overall shots, 14-13.
SU's junior B.J. Merriam (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern
Regional) made three saves, including one on a breakaway
in the 84th minute.
