WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Susquehanna University's junior outside
hitter Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
tallied 22 total kills in two matches, as Susquehanna split a pair
of contests on the first day of the second 2009 Landmark Conference
Round-Robin, defeating Goucher College (12-11, 2-3 Landmark), 3-1,
but losing to nationally ranked No. 2 Juniata College (22-2,
5-0 Landmark), 3-0, at The Catholic University of America's Raymond
A. DuFour Center on Oct. 17.
Jankiewicz also notched a team-high three total
service aces for the Crusaders (18-11, 4-1 Landmark).
SU defeated Goucher, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23, and lost to
Juniata, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19.
Freshman libero Kelly O'Brien (Mastic,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) led the Crusaders with 33 digs,
including a match-high 15 against Juniata.
SU's freshman middle hitter Kaylee Monga (Rockaway,
N.J./Morris Knolls) recorded seven total blocks, including
a career and match-high six against Goucher.
Crusaders sophomore setter Shona St. Angelo (Manorville,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) dished out 48 total
assists.
Susquehanna freshman defensive specialist Dana Kreutzer
(Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) chipped in
24 total digs, 17 coming in the win over the Gophers.
Juniata and Catholic (18-9, 3-2) each won both matches on the first
day, while the United States Merchant Marine Academy (12-11, 1-4)
notched a win in its lone match. Goucher and The University
of Scranton (5-16, 0-5) dropped two matches. Moravian College
(12-14, 2-2) lost its only match.
