SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshman
Pat Horan (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy) made
only one save, but it proved to be the difference in Susquehanna's
2-1 defeat of visiting Juniata College in a Landmark Conference
men's soccer game at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 20.
Horan made a diving stop in the 83rd minute on a
Juniata (6-9-0, 1-5-0 Landmark) one-timer to keep the game knotted
at 1.
Just 1 minute, 26 seconds after Horan's save,
junior forward Jim Robertiello (Chester, N.J./West Morris
Mendham) scored his second goal of the game for
Susquehanna (6-9-1, 2-3-0 Landmark) off a centering pass from
freshman midfielder John Arnold (Mechanicsburg,
Pa./Mechanicsburg). The assist was
Arnold's first collegiate point.
SU scored the first goal of the game on a through ball pass from
sophomore midfielder Austin Gordon (Millburn, N.J./St.
Benedict's Prep) to Robertiello in the
10th minute.
Juniata tied the score at 1 in the 54th minute on a loose ball in
the box but was then forced to play a man-down after a red card in
the 56th minute.
Susquehanna topped Juniata in shots, 15-5, and in corner kicks,
13-2.
