Late Save, Goal Give Susquehanna 2-1 Win Over Juniata

Boxscore

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshman Pat Horan (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy) made only one save, but it proved to be the difference in Susquehanna's 2-1 defeat of visiting Juniata College in a Landmark Conference men's soccer game at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 20.

Horan made a diving stop in the 83rd minute on a Juniata (6-9-0, 1-5-0 Landmark) one-timer to keep the game knotted at 1.

Just 1 minute, 26 seconds after Horan's save, junior forward Jim Robertiello (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) scored his second goal of the game for Susquehanna (6-9-1, 2-3-0 Landmark) off a centering pass from freshman midfielder John Arnold (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg). The assist was Arnold's first collegiate point.

SU scored the first goal of the game on a through ball pass from sophomore midfielder Austin Gordon (Millburn, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) to Robertiello in the 10th minute.

Juniata tied the score at 1 in the 54th minute on a loose ball in the box but was then forced to play a man-down after a red card in the 56th minute.

Susquehanna topped Juniata in shots, 15-5, and in corner kicks, 13-2.

Next Game: Saturday, Oct. 24, vs. Moravian (Landmark Conference game - Senior Day), 3:30 p.m.
