SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's senior
Alyssa Kemmerer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area)
notched a game-high six saves to set a new Susquehanna
single-season shutouts record with seven, as the Crusaders (6-6-3,
3-1-0 Landmark) topped the visitors from Juniata College,
2-0, in a Landmark Conference women's soccer game at Sassafras
Fields on Oct. 21.
Kemmerer has recorded five shutouts in the last
six games.
SU's senior forward Abby Montgomery (Hughesville,
Pa./Hughesville) tallied both goals, the first coming in
the 22nd minute and the second in the 65th minute. She leads
the 2009 Crusaders with six goals and 13 points.
Junior defender Samantha Farina (Kennett Square,
Pa./Unionville) assisted on the first goal with a through
ball past the defense, and sophomore midfielder Samantha
Price (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) centered a pass
on an open net to assist on the second goal.
As a team, Susquehanna is tied for the school season-single
shutouts record with seven as well.
Juniata (5-11-0, 1-4-0 Landmark) held a narrow edge in shots,
11-9. SU led in corner kicks, 3-1.
