SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior forward
Julie Briskey (Selingsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area)
recorded two goals, including one on a penalty kick, as Susquehanna
(7-6-3, 4-1-0 Landmark) defeated the visitors from Moravian
College on Senior Day, 2-0, in a Landmark Conference women's soccer
game at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 24.
Briskey netted the penalty kick in the 29th
minute and her second goal from 25 yards out in the 70th
minute. She ranks second on the team in goals this season
with four.
SU recorded its eighth shutout of the season to set a new
single-season team record, breaking the previous mark of seven set
in 2002 and 2004.
Senior Alyssa Kemmerer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick
Area) made six saves on the afternoon, notching her eighth
shutout of the season as well to improve her own school record.
With the win, Susquehanna has clinched a spot in the 2009 Landmark
Conference championships.
Moravian (8-6-2, 3-1-1 Landmark) held a narrow edge in shots on
goal, 6-4.
