SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshmen
Richard Fitzsimmons [Brielle, N.J./Loomis Chaffee
(Conn.)] and Mats Haaland (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick) teamed to win a first-flight doubles
match, 8-5, but Susquehanna lost a non-conference men's match to
visiting Lebanon Valley College, 6-3, at the James W. Garrett
Sports Complex tennis courts on Oct. 4.
Both SU (0-1 overall) and Lebanon Valley (1-0 overall) opened
their 2009-10 seasons with this match.
Sophomores Grant Uber (Biglerville,
Pa./Biglerville) and Alec Green (Media, Pa./Strath
Haven) won a third-flight doubles match for SU, 8-4.
Freshman Michael Hickey (Yarmouth,
Maine/Yarmouth) earned the other Crusaders win with a
hard-fought third-flight singles win, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4.
