HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore back
Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville
Area) fired a game-high seven shots and made a defensive
save, but visiting Susquehanna lost a Landmark Conference field
hockey game to nationally ranked No. 18 Juniata College, 2-0, at
Winton Hill Fields on Oct. 7.
Juniata (10-2, 3-0 Landmark) scored two first-half goals and got
an amazing five defensive saves from one player to down SU (4-8,
1-2 Landmark).
The Eagles also held the advantage in penalty corners but by
just a slim 12-11 margin. The Crusaders had six penalty corners in
the second half to Juniata's five.
SU sophomore Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel,
N.J./Seneca) made a game-high seven saves and was helped
out by three Crusaders with one defensive save each in
Monaghan, junior back Julia Amendola
(Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) and sophomore midfielder
Diana Mask (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant).
