SCRANTON, Pa. -- Susquehanna University went perfect in doubles
play but lost a non-conference men's tennis match to host Marywood
University on Oct. 7.
Marywood (2-0 overall) earned the win by taking five of six
singles matches despite three doubles wins by Susquehanna (0-2
overall).
The team of freshmen Mats Haaland (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick) and Richard Fitzsimmons [Brielle,
N.J./Loomis Chaffee (Conn.)] won at first-flight doubles,
8-3. Freshman Michael Hickey (Yarmouth,
Maine/Yarmouth) and sophomore Matthew Quadrini
[Escondido, Calif./Brunswick (Maine)] won at
second-flight, 8-1, and sophomores Grant Uber (Biglerville,
Biglerville) and Alec Green (Media, Pa./Strath
Haven) won in the third flight, 8-6.
Junior Bruce Osborn (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area)
picked up the lone Crusaders singles win, 7-5, 6-2, in the sixth
flight.
