SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshman forward
J.T. Wilson (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII
Regional) recorded his first collegiate double-double to
help Susquehanna beat the visiting Pennsylvania College of
Technology, 84-48, in a non-conference men's basketball game at the
2009 Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament at Orlando W. Houts
Gymnasium on Nov. 20.
Wilson scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 12
rebounds. He posted 11 boards in the first half alone while also
sinking five of eight shots from the field.
Penn College (2-1 overall) jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but
Susquehanna (1-1 overall) took the lead at 10-9 with 9 minutes, 50
seconds left in the first half and never looked back. The
Crusaders' 36-point difference was their largest lead of the game.
SU's sophomore guard Spenser Spencer (Seattle,
Wash./Lakeside) played only 14 minutes but led the team
with 13 points on five of 11 shooting.
Spencer also tied team-highs with two
three-pointers and two steals. Teammate and senior guard
Bryan Majors (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) dished
out a game-high seven assists and also tallied two steals.
Penn College's sophomore guard Leroy Joiner (Williamsport,
Pa./Williamsport) led all players with 15 points and added a
team-high 11 rebounds.
Susquehanna held the Wildcats to 17-of-59 shooting from the floor
(28.8 percent) and outrebounded Penn College, 51-34.
Elizabethtown College (2-1 overall) defeated Wilkes University (1-1
overall), 66-57, in the other Pepsi/Weis semifinal.
