ST. DAVIDS, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior outside
hitter Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
tied for the match-high with eight blocks and added three kills,
six digs and a service ace, but visiting Susquehanna (0-1 overall)
lost, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-13), to nationally ranked No. 23
Eastern University (1-0 overall) in a women's volleyball match on
Sept. 1. The game was both teams' 2009 season opener.
Freshman middle hitter Kaylee Monga
(Rockaway, N.J./Morris
Knolls) led SU with four kills and added
six blocks and a dig. Teammate and freshman defensive
specialist/libero Kate Reese (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro
Area) paced the Crusaders with 16 digs.
Reese also registered a kill.
SU's senior opposite hitter Katie Peters
(Broomall, Pa./Marple
Newtown) joined
Jankiewicz with eight blocks--including a
team-high three solo stuffs--and posted one kill.
Sophomore setter Shona St. Angelo (Manorville,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) handed out a team-high eight
assists and registered seven digs.
