WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior outside
hitter Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
and freshman middle hitter Kaylee Monga (Rockaway,
N.J./Morris Knolls) posted team-highs of 27 and 25 kills,
respectively, as Susquehanna split a pair of non-conference
neutral-site matches on Day One of the 2009 Washington &
Jefferson Holiday INNvitational at Henry Memorial Center on Sept.
12.
SU (2-6 overall) dropped a tough five-setter to Muskingum
University, 3-2 (10-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-13, 15-10), at 3 p.m.
before sweeping the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, 3-0
(25-18, 25-10, 25-22), at 7 p.m. Muskingum is 5-3 overall, while
Pitt.-Greensburg is 0-7 overall.
Susquehanna's freshman defensive specialist Kelly
O'Brien (Mastic, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) notched an
incredible team-high 44 digs in the Muskingum match. She added a
team-high 15 more against Greensburg.
Teammate and sophomore setter Shona St. Angelo
(Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) led the Crusaders
with four service aces on the day, all coming against Greensburg.
St. Angelo also dished out a team-high 66 assists,
including an impressive 45 against Muskingum.
Senior middle hitter Madeline Hals (Morristown,
N.J./Morristown) paced SU with two blocks.
