WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Every Susquehanna University singles and
doubles entry topped the hosts from Lycoming College in a 9-0
non-conference women's tennis match at Bruce Henry Park on Sept.
15.
Sophomore Julia Lerner (Arlington,
Va./Washington-Lee) won a straight-set match at
first-flight singles for Susquehanna (1-0 overall), 6-2, 6-3, over
her Lycoming (0-2 overall) opponent.
Freshman Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville)
won at second-flight singles, 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Ellen
Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception) won in
straight sets from the third flight, 6-4, 6-3. Junior
Whitney Arcaro (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area)
was another straight-sets winner in fourth-flight action, 6-4, 6-0.
Freshman Dana Fleshley (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick) took a straight-sets victory from the
fifth flight, 6-3, 6-2, and sophomore Cassie Zerbe
(Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) wrapped up the sixth flight in
convincing straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The team of Pulsinelle and
Lerner outmatched their opponents in first-flight
doubles, 8-3. Hess and freshman Kim Rogers
(Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) doubled up their opponents
in second-flight play, 8-4, and the team of senior Jessi
Hass (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and sophomore
Allison Killeen (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy)
cruised to victory in the third flight, 8-0.
