ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior midfielder
Dan Niesen (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and
freshman midfielder Sam Meister (Wyomissing,
Pa./Wyomissing) each scored the first goals of their
collegiate careers, but Susquehanna (3-5-0 overall) lost to host
Lebanon Valley College, 3-2, in a non-conference men's soccer game
at Herbert Field on Sept. 23.
Niesen netted his goal off a pass from sophomore
midfielder Bobby Long (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern
Regional) just 6 minutes, 52 seconds into the
game. Lebanon Valley (5-1-2 overall) tied the score just under
five minutes later.
The Crusaders regained the lead just 2:32 into the second half off
a corner kick by freshman midfielder Daniel Sosa (Columbia,
Pa./York Catholic), which was first headed by senior
defender Andrew Cordell Carey (Fenwick Island, Del./Indian
River) before Meister scored off his
header attempt.
The Flying Dutchmen tied the game again in the 55th minute and
recorded the game-winner with just over 10 minutes left to
play.
Junior B.J. Merriam (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern
Regional) made two saves in the game for the Crusaders.
