SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior outside
hitter Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
totaled team highs of 15 and nine kills, respectively, to help
Susquehanna women's volleyball split two non-conference matches
against visiting Wilkes University (10-6 overall), 3-0, and
Franklin & Marshall College (12-2 overall), 0-3, on the first
day of the 2009 Susquehanna University Invitational at Orlando W.
Houts Gymnasium on Sept. 25.
Jankiewicz also recorded a team-high six
service aces, three in each match.
Susquehanna (8-9 overall) defeated Wilkes, 25-17, 25-16, 25-20,
for its sixth straight win, but the streak was snapped by Franklin
& Marshall, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19.
SU sophomore setter Shona St. Angelo (Manorville,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) tallied 56 total assists in the
two matches, posting a game-high 31 against Wilkes.
Teammate and freshman defensive specialist Kelly O'Brien
(Mastic, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) led the way for the
Crusaders with 48 digs.
Senior middle hitter Madeline Hals (Morristown,
N.J./Morristown) recorded nine total blocks for the
Crusaders, six coming in the first match.
SU senior opposite hitter Erin McMahon (Catawissa, Pa./Our
Lady of Lourdes Regional) added 21 digs and four aces on
the night.
Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham (13-5 overall) and St.
Mary's College of Maryland (8-6 overall) each split its matches on
the first day.
