HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore defensive
specialist/libero Kate Reese (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro
Area) posted match-highs of 20 and 17 digs in losses
to St. Mary's College of Maryland, 3-0, (25-17, 25-17, 25-15) and
Widener University, 3-2, (22-25, 11-25, 25-20, 26-24, 15-8),
respectively, at Haverford College on Sept. 4.
Freshman middle hitter Kaylee Monga (Rockaway,
N.J./Morris Knolls) led SU with 18 total kills, including
a match-high 14 against Widener. Teammate and freshman setter
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) paced
the Crusaders with 27 assists, including a team-high 20 in the loss
to Widener.
SU's senior middle hitter Jess Cicioni (Frackville,
Pa./North Schuylkill) recorded a team-high seven blocks in
the two matches, while sophomore setter Shona St. Angelo
(Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) tied a match-high
with four service aces against the Pride to go along with 19
assists in the match.
Susquehanna (0-3 overall), Widener (2-1 overall) and St. Mary's
(1-2 overall) return to action for the second day of the Haverford
Invitational tomorrow.
