MADISON, N.J. -- Susquehanna University's freshman guard/forward
Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./St. Thomas More)
led six Susquehanna players scoring in double figures by tallying a
game-high 15 points, and SU topped host Drew University, 92-66, in
a Landmark Conference men's basketball game at Baldwin Gymnasium on
Jan. 22.
Susquehanna (11-6, 4-2 Landmark) won its fourth straight game by
dominating Drew (4-12, 1-5 Landmark) in both halves, 43-30 in the
first and 49-36 in the second.
SU outrebounded the Rangers, 40-26, for the game. The Crusaders
made 55.9 percent of their field goals, compared to 43.9 percent
for Drew.
Pannell tied for the game-high with six
rebounds and added two assists. Teammate and senior forward
Marcus Burke (Hyde Park, Mass./Brimmer and May)
had six boards and two assists as well to go with 11 points. The
Crusaders' junior forward Hunter McKain (Ligonier,
Pa./Shady Side Academy) came off the bench to notch six
rebounds and 10 points.
Senior guard Bryan Majors (Harrisburg,
Pa./Harrisburg) dished out a game-high seven assists,
scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds and made a game-high
three steals to set a new Susquehanna career record. Former
record-holder Lloyd "Tres" Wolf '94 made 229 steals from the
1990-91 season to 1993-94. Majors now has 231
career steals.
Freshman forward J.T. Wilson (Sparta, N.J./Pope John
XXIII Regional), junior guard Jason Dawson
(Somerset, N.J./Rutgers Prep) and sophomore guard
Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) were the
other Crusaders to score in double figures. Wilson
had 13 points and five boards, Dawson 11 points
and two rebounds and Spencer 10 points, three
rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Dawson did all of his damage in just 12 minutes
off the bench. Fifteen players saw action for SU.
Junior guard Mike Mayes (Linden, N.J./Saint Mary HS) and
sophomore guard Terrell Brown (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) both
led Drew with 14 points. Mayes added two boards and a team-high
four assists and two steals, while Brown grabbed four boards.Drew's
freshman center Lucas Levenson (Margate, N.J./Atlantic City) posted
six rebounds and two points.
