Boxscore

MADISON, N.J. -- Susquehanna University's senior guard Ashley Watkins (La Habra Heights, Calif./Rosary) scored a game-high 13 points and dished out a team-high four assists to lead visiting Susquehanna to a 66-55 Landmark Conference women's basketball win over Drew University at Baldwin Gymnasium on Jan. 22.

Watkins made all seven of her free throws, as SU (8-9, 2-4 Landmark) went to the charity stripe 27 times to just seven trips for Drew (10-5, 2-4 Landmark). She also grabbed four rebounds.

Susquehanna fought back from an early 14-4 deficit to lead, 30-28, at halftime.

The Crusaders steadily pulled away from there. A Drew layup did pull the score to 57-48 with exactly two minutes left, but a three-pointer by junior guard Erika Barron (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) soon after pushed the lead back out to double-digits and served as the beginning of the end.

The Crusaders led by as many as 14 points with 1:13 to play after the Rangers started to foul in an attempt to prolong the game.

Barron scored 12 points and added four rebounds and three assists. Teammate and sophomore guard/forward Jessica Zigarelli (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) pulled down a game-high nine boards to go with six points and two assists.

SU's junior forward/center Samantha Cartwright (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made a game-high four steals as part of a four-point, five-rebound effort. Sophomore forward Jennifer Butts (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) registered seven points, three rebounds and a team-high two blocked shots in just 15 minutes.

Freshman forward/center Eden Blazovic (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Butler HS) led the Rangers with 12 points and added a team-high-tying eight boards and a game-high four blocked shots. Teammate and sophomore guard Katherine Luby (Old Saybrook, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) scored 11 points on the strength of a game-high three three-pointers (on six attempts) and added four rebounds.

Drew's junior forward Jessica Reid (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) tied Blazovic with eight boards and scored four points. Sophomore guard Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) handed out a game-high five assists, scored nine points and made a team-high-tying two steals. Sophomore guard/forward Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) had two steals as well.
