SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball team may not have sent its senior class out with a win, falling 3-0 to Gettysburg on Wednesday night, but it will still be remembered as a memorable evening.

The Crusaders honored one of its most decorated players in recent history in senior Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom), the program's all-time kills leaders and a four-year starter in a special, pre-game ceremony. The SU athletic department also honored head coach Kuuipo Tom for becoming the winningest head coach in program history earlier this season.

On the court, Susquehanna (18-10) dropped consecutive sets to the Bullets (12-12) by 17-25, 26-28, 21-25 scores.

Jankiewicz finished off her home career with a nine-kill, four-dig night. Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) led the team with 11 kills to go along with nine digs. Sophomore Samantha Adler (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.) had a solid performance, contributing a team-high 20 assists, one service ace and two digs.

In the opening set, Gettysburg jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, although SU did make it a six-point set (23-17) thanks to a Bullet attack error. However, a Shona St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) ball handling error ended the set.

Gettysburg again jumped out to a large lead early in the second set, taking a 14-1 advantage. The Crusaders never gave in, however, and worked their way back from the 13-point deficit to tie it at 20-all on a Carson kill. However, two miscues by Adler ended the set in favor of the Bullets, 28-26.

In the third set, SU fell behind early but kept it close. A bad set by the Bullets Lizzy Kuhn allowed Susquehanna to tie the score at 20-20, but Gettysburg scored five of the final six points to clinch the match.
