KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Susquehanna women's
volleyball team continued to roll in conference play, opening the
second round of the Landmark Conference Round-Robin Tournament with
a 3-1 win over Goucher.
SU (19-10, 4-1) won 25-13, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-14 decisions over
the Gophers in its first and only match on the opening day of the
tournament. Susquehanna has now won eight of its last 10
matches.
The Crusaders were led by Emily Carson's
(Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) double-double, as she
posted 10 kills and 18 digs in the winning effort. She also added
two service aces for SU. Falling just short of a double-double was
Jessica Cornman-Homonoff (Brooklyn, Conn./Woodstock
Academy), who added seven kills and 14 digs.
In what was a well-rounded defensive effort by the team,
Kelly O'Brien (Mastic, N.Y./Eastport-South
Manor) was the third SU player with double-digit digs,
recording a match-high 20. Shona St. Angelo (Manorville,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) led all players with her 28
assists.
The Crusaders wrap-up both the round-robin tournament and
conference play tomorrow, and should find out their postseason
future once all the day's matches are completed.
