ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's
volleyball team was back in action this weekend at the
Elizabethtown Tournament and split a pair of matches on
Saturday.
The Crusaders (21-11) fell to host Elizabethtown in straight
sets (19-25, 20-25, 18-25) before rebounding to win a five-set
decision over Carnegie Mellon by scores of 31-29, 18-25, 12-25,
25-20, 15-13).
Against Elizabethtown, Kaylee Monga led the
team with nine kills while four players reached double figures in
digs: Shona St. Angelo (16), Kelly
O'Brien (12), Emily Bwint (11) and
Emily Carson (11). St. Angelo also added a
team-best 21 assists while Monga chipped in four block assists for
SU.
With little time between matches, the Crusaders still found a
way to rebound and win a five-setter over Carnegie Mellon. This
time, three players reached double-digit kill totals, led by senior
Lindsey Jankiewicz's 22. Jankiewicz also led the team with
three service aces and five blocks (three solo, two assisted).
Carson added a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs. St.
Angelo, meanwhile, again led the team in assists with 35 to
complement seven digs.
Next match: Wednesday, Oct. 27 at PSU-Berks at 7
p.m.
