Box Score
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - For the sixth time this fall, the
Susquehanna women's soccer team suffered a one-goal loss,
falling 1-0 at Elizabethtown on Tuesday night.
The SU defense held the Blue Jays scoreless for the first half,
but an early second-half score by Elizabethtown combined with a
quiet offensive night for the Crusaders (5-11-1) spelled defeat for
Susquehanna.
The Crusaders, playing in their final road game of the 2010
season, managed only four shots in the game while the Blue Jays
fired off 16.
SU freshman goalie Rachel Norbuts (Moneroeville,
N.J./Woodstown) had a solid performance in the net, making
saves on six of the seven shots-on-goal she faced. Unfortunately,
her squad could not net one of its own to support her or the rest
of the Crusaders defense.
Julie Briskey (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove
Area) registered the first shot of the night for
Susquehanna in the 13th minute and that stood as the
team's only shot over the first 45 minutes of play.
Fortunately Norbuts came up with five of her six saves during
that span to keep it 0-0 as the first half came to a close.
Nearly 12 minutes into the second half, the Blue Jays'
Kate Roderick broke that tie with an unassisted score that she
chipped into the left corner of the net beyond the reach of Norbuts
to make it 1-0.
The Crusaders managed only one shot over the final 30 minutes as
Elizabethtown was able to hold on for the win.
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 30 (season finale, Senior Day) vs.
Drew – 1 p.m.
