Box Score
MADISON, N.J. – Susquehanna field hockey's 3-2,
overtime road win against Drew clinched the No. 2 seed for the
Crusaders in the Landmark Postseason Tournament.
Erica Reichart scored the game winner less than
four minutes into the extra session as SU rallied from a 2-1
halftime deficit to grab the win.
SU will host No. 3 seed Catholic on Wednesday with game time
still to be determined. The Crusaders won a 4-3, overtime game
against Catholic on Sept. 25.
In Saturday's victory, Reichart accounted for two of
Susquehanna's three goals. Senior Rebecca
Entwistle provided the other goal for SU (12-6, 5-1).
The Rangers (13-5, 3-3) actually held a 14-10 edge in shots but
goalies Erin Ferguson and Margaret
Ruth combined for eight saves, four apiece, to make sure
two goals were all Drew would score.
Less than seven minutes into the game, Reichart scored the
game's first goal on a rebound off her own shot.
Drew's Sarah Charles responded three minutes later with an
unassisted score of her own that was a near carbon-copy of
Reichart's to knot it at one-all.
Charles struck again with 13 minutes left in the opening half on
a goal from the right side that she drove all the way in from the
50.
That 2-1 scored held up well into the second half and with less
than 10 minutes to play, it appeared the Rangers would hold on for
the win.
Entwistle and the Crusaders were not so willing, however, to let
Drew walk away with the win. Entwistle knocked in yet another
rebounded shot with 45:15 on the clock for the equalizer that
helped send the game into extra time.
Early in overtime, Reichart struck again with the game winner as
her squad clinched a home playoff game.
Juniata earned the No. 1 seed and will host Drew on Wednesday.
The semifinal winners will square off on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the
site of the highest remaining seed.
