Boxscore vs. Marymount
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Susquehanna University volleyball
team won both its matches at Marymount University in a tri-match
with Eastern Mennonite University on Oct. 30.
The Crusaders (24-11) defeated Eastern Mennonite in the first
match, 3-0, (25-19, 25-12, 25-17). They then topped Marymount, 3-2,
(25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 19-25, 15-3).
Senior Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
led all players with 10 kills and also registered two block
assists, a dig and one service ace.
SU jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first set by way of six
straight points. The second set started the same way, but the
Crusaders started off on a 12-3 run and EMU could never bring the
game closer than nine points for the remainder of the set.
Junior Shona St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South
Manor) dished out a match-high 20 assists and added six
digs.
Sophomores MC Llareus (Edgewood, Md./South River)
and Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell)
each had two total blocks in the first match.
Llareus added two kills, while
Carson tallied seven digs and five kills.
Fellow sophomore Kelly O'Brien (Mastic,
N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) led all SU players with eight
digs, while freshman Emily Bwint (Collegeville,
Pa./Perkiomen Valley) had a match-high-tying four service
aces.
In the 3-2 victory over the Saints, SU never trailed in the first
two sets, but struggled in the next two. The Crusaders never had a
lead in the third set, and only could obtain a one-point lead on
two different occasions in the fourth set.
Jankiewicz once again led all players with 17
kills and also made five total blocks.
Carson guarded the net once again in the second
match, blocking a game-high eight total attempts by Marymount. She
also had eight kills and 11 digs.
The setting tandem of St. Angelo and sophomore
Samantha Adler (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.)
totaled 48 assists. St. Angelo led all players
with 31, while Adler chipped in 17. Both players
tied for a game-high with two aces.
O'Brien dug out a match-high 20 attempts in
the second match.
