ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore attack Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) scored a team-high five goals and dished out an assist to lead visiting Susquehanna to a 19-13 non-conference women's lacrosse win over Lebanon Valley College at Henry and Gladys Arnold Field on March 11.

Susquehanna (1-3 overall) earned its first win of the 2010 season after scoring the first three goals of the game and leading Lebanon Valley (1-1 overall) at halftime, 8-7.

Down, 13-10, with 9 minutes, 24 seconds left in the second half, LVC seemed poised to get back in the game when an SU player was sent off with a red card.

The Flying Dutchmen then scored a man-up goal with 9:20 left to cut the score to 13-11, but the Crusaders scored six consecutive man-down goals after that, including two each by freshman attack Phoebe Nicholls (Princeton, N.J./Rutgers Prep) and Bauer, to put the game away at 19-11 with just 4:43 left. Nicholls finished with three goals and two assists.

LVC scored late twice to provide the final margin.

SU also got four goals, a game-high three assists and a game-high-tying four draw controls from junior midfielder Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS). Teammate and sophomore attack Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) scored three goals to go with four ground balls.

Junior attack Kirsten Detwiler (Montchanin, Del./Wilmington Friends), freshman midfielder Lindsey Derstine (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh), sophomore defender Brittany McCann (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and freshman attack Alicia Large (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) each scored one goal for the Crusaders. Detwiler had two assists, and Derstine notched one. McCann had four draw controls and a game-high-tying six ground balls.

Freshman midfielder Emily Jones (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) led SU and tied for the game-high with three caused turnovers. Jones also had five ground balls. Teammate and sophomore midfielder Marra Landino (Brownsville, Vt./Kimball Union Academy) scooped up six ground balls.

Junior defender Abbie Handerhan (Arlington, Va./Connelly School of Holy Child) made her second career appearance in goal and played all 60 minutes, earning her first win by making a game-high 13 saves and collecting five ground balls.

Next Game: Tuesday, March 16, vs. York, Pa. (non-conference game), 4 p.m.
