SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore attack
Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) scored a
team-high two goals, but Susquehanna lost a non-conference women's
lacrosse game, 9-4, to visiting York College of Pennsylvania at
Sassafras Fields on March 16.
Both teams collected 17 ground balls, but York (4-3 overall)
fired 29 shots, compared to 17 for SU (1-4 overall).
The Crusaders' freshman Emily Stankaitis
(Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye
Falls-Lima) suffered the loss in goal
despite making a game-high 14 saves in all 60 minutes.
Stankaitis had four ground balls as well and tied
for the game-high with two caused turnovers. Teammate and freshman
defender Ainsley Rossitto (Rocky Hill,
Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) caused two turnovers too.
Sophomore attack Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James
Caldwell) and freshman midfielder Lindsey Derstine
(Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) accounted for the other
Susquehanna goals. Junior midfielder Sarah Wright
(Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS) assisted on
Derstine's goal, and junior attack Kirsten
Detwiler (Montchanin, Del./Wilmington Friends) registered
the team's other assist by helping on Bauer's
second goal. Wright also led the team and tied for
the game-high with three draw controls.
SU's sophomore defender Brittany McCann
(Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) led all
players with six ground balls.
The Crusaders held their only lead of the game at 2-1 after
Derstine's goal with 20 minutes, 3 seconds left in
the first half, but the Spartans scored the next six goals,
including the last four of the first half, to pull away.
