SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior midfielder
Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS)
recorded game-highs of four goals and two assists to help
Susquehanna defeat the visitors from Frostburg State University,
16-5, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Sassafras Fields
on March 25.
Wright also tied a game-high with four draw
controls.
Susquehanna (4-4 overall) scored the first seven goals of the
game over the first 10 minutes, 41 seconds, and Frostburg State
(4-3 overall) could never catch up.
Sophomore attack Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James
Caldwell) netted the first SU goal from a free position
just 1:11 into the game. Dyer also dished out an
assist on one of Wright's goals in the second
half.
Just 2:16 after the Dyer goal, sophomore attack
Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) scored her
first of three goals on a free-position shot.
Bauer scored all three of her goals in the first
half and assisted on two other goals in the game. She also
registered four draw controls.
Crusaders freshman midfielder Lindsey Derstine
(Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) tallied a hat trick,
including back-to-back goals--one from a free position and the
other unassisted. Derstine handed out one assist
on the day as well.
Freshman attack Phoebe Nicholls (Princeton, N.J./Rutgers
Prep) was the third SU player to record three goals in the
contest. After the consecutive goals by Derstine,
Nicholls notched back-to-back goals to end the
seven straight Susquehanna tallies.
After Frostburg cut the score to 7-2, the Crusaders ran off five
unanswered goals until the final second of the first half. The
score was 12-3 at halftime.
SU's freshman attack Alexa Green (Wilmington, Del./Red Lion
Christian Academy) scored her first goals of the season,
both coming in the final two minutes of regulation.
Sophomore midfielder Marra Landino (Brownsville,
Vt./Kimball Union Academy) and sophomore defender
Brittany McCann (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) picked
up a team-high-tying six ground balls. McCann also
caused a game-high five turnovers.
Freshman Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye
Falls-Lima) played all 60 minutes in goal and made a
game-high 13 saves to pick up her third win of the season.
