SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Susquehanna University women's tennis
team defeated the visitors from Goucher College, 7-2, in a Landmark
Conference match at James W. Garrett Sports Complex on March
27.
Sophomore Julia Lerner (Arlington,
Va./Washington-Lee) won a straight-sets match at
first-flight singles for Susquehanna (6-2 overall), 6-2, 6-3, over
her Goucher (6-3 overall) opponent.
Freshman Kim Rogers (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville)
won in three sets from her third-flight spot, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Fellow
freshman Ellen Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate
Conception) recorded a straight-sets victory from the
fourth flight, 6-3, 6-3, while sophomore Cassie Zerbe
(Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) recorded the final
straight-sets victory from sixth-flight, 6-3, 6-1.
The team of Lerner and junior Whitney
Arcaro (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) outmatched their
opponents in first-flight doubles, 8-6. Freshman Abby Hess
(Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Rogers
won a tough match in the second flight, 9-8 (7-4).
Third-flight doubles was won by senior Jessi Hass
(Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and sophomore
Allison Killeen (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy),
8-5.
