Susquehanna Wins Fifth in Row with 16-2 Romp of King's (Pa.)

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Freshman attack Phoebe Nicholls (Princeton, N.J./Rutgers Prep) scored a game-high four goals and assisted on another to lead Susquehanna University to a 16–2 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting King's College (Pa.) at Sassafras Fields on March 31.

Nicholls has scored four goals in each of the last two games and at least three in the last three, while Susquehanna (6-4 overall) has scored at least 16 goals in each of its last four games while building a five-game winning streak.

SU dominated King's (0-7 overall) in this game by holding a 36-17 advantage in shots and 13-7 edge in draw controls.

The Crusaders led from start to finish, scoring the first 11 goals while leading at halftime, 10-0. The entire SU roster made an appearance.

Nicholls fired a game-high 10 shots and got a game-high eight of them on goal. Sophomore attacks Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) and Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) each scored three times for Susquehanna. Bauer also collected a game-high three draw controls.

Six Crusaders scored one goal each, including (in order) sophomore midfielder Caroline Sisson (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh), junior midfielder Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS), freshman midfielders Lindsey Derstine (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Emily Walsh (Ringwood, N.J./DePaul Catholic), freshman attack Alicia Large (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) and junior attack Janey Arronson (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton).

Derstine assisted on Arronson's goal, and fellow junior attack Kirsten Detwiler (Montchanin, Del./Wilmington Friends) assisted on Nicholls' first.

Freshman Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) earned the win in goal by making 12 saves in all 60 minutes.

Stankaitis and freshman defender Ainsley Rossitto (Rocky Hill, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) tied for the team-high with five ground balls apiece. Walsh, Rossitto and sophomore midfielder Marra Landino (Brownsville, Vt./Kimball Union Academy) each tied for the game-high with two caused turnovers. Walsh added four ground balls.
