Game 1 Boxscore

Game 2 Boxscore

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Susquehanna University softball team split a non-conference neutral-site doubleheader with Bloomfield College at Disney's Wide World of Sports on March 9.

Bloomfield (2-2 overall), an NCAA Division II team, won the first game, 6-0, but Susquehanna (5-1 overall), a Division III team, took the second, 6-2.

SU's junior Cara Swerdlow (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) pitched her third straight complete game in the opener but suffered her first loss of the season by allowing five hits and three walks and hitting two batters. She struck out 10 hitters though.

The Crusaders offense was stymied, collecting just three hits. Sophomore outfielder Lisa Finizio (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) had two of those, going 2-for-3. Junior infielder Taylor Crawford (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley HS) had the other, doubling in three at bats.

Freshman Sarah Hoffman (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) moved to 3-0 this season by pitching all of Game 2--her third straight complete game. Hoffman allowed five hits and struck out one batter.

Susquehanna notched seven hits and two walks in the nightcap, led by senior outfielder Deanna Anderson (Coal Twp., Pa./Shamokin Area), who went 2-for-2--both triples--scored a run and drove in another.

Teammate and junior infielder Brennan Balfour (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) went 1-for-3 in Game 2 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Junior infielder Shelly Landis (Souderton, Pa./Christopher Dock Mennonite), junior infielder/pitcher Kim Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) and senior infielder Katie Connors (Laflin, Pa./Pittston Area) each went 1-for-3 with an RBI as well. Landis and Rubino both scored once too.

Senior catcher Kelli Holota (Spring Lake, N.J./Livingston) went 1-for-2 with a run.

Next Games: Wednesday, March 10, vs. PSU-Hazleton (DH) (Disney's Wide World of Sports; Orlando, Fla.), 10 a.m.
