WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Susquehanna University's junior midfielder
Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS)
tallied a team-high two goals, but visiting Susquehanna had its
eight-game winning streak snapped by nationally ranked No. 17 The
Catholic University of America, 18-3, in a Landmark Conference
women's lacrosse game at Cardinal Stadium on April 17.
Susquehanna (9-5, 2-1 Landmark) scored the first goal of the
game just 5 minutes, 15 seconds into the contest before Catholic
(7-6, 3-0 Landmark) ran off 12 straight goals to put the game out
of reach. SU tallied the final goal of the first half with 15
seconds left before intermission.
Wright netted the first and last goals for the
Crusaders and also won one draw control.
Freshman midfielder Lindsey Derstine (Coopersburg,
Pa./Southern Lehigh) recorded the other Susquehanna goal
just before the half. Teammate and sophomore midfielder
Marra Landino (Brownsville, Vt./Kimble Union
Academy) picked up a team-high four ground balls.
SU's freshman defender Jennifer Nguyen (Norristown,
Pa./Norristown Area) forced a team-high two turnovers and
scooped up two ground balls, while freshman midfielder
Emily Walsh (Ringwood, N.J./DePaul Catholic)
earned a draw control.
Freshman Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye
Falls-Lima) played all 60 minutes in goal and made eight
saves in the loss.
