HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Susquehanna University men won a
Landmark Conference match against host Juniata College, 7-2, at
Raffensperger Tennis Courts on April 22.
Susquehanna (8-5, 3-2 Landmark) won five of the six singles
matches and beat Juniata (6-11, 1-4 Landmark) in two doubles
matches.
SU's freshman Mats Haaland (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick) won a hard-fought match at second-flight
singles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, and teamed with freshman Richard
Fitzsimmons [Brielle, N.J./Loomis Chaffee (Conn.)] to win
close in first-flight doubles, 8-6.
Fitzsimmons also won a third-flight singles
match, 6-3, 7-5.
Sophomore Matthew Quadrini [Escondido, Calif./Brunswick
(Maine)] outlasted his opponent in fourth-flight singles,
3-6, 6-2, 6-1, and partnered with freshman Michael Hickey
(Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) to take the Crusaders' other
doubles point in the second flight, 8-5.
Susquehanna's sophomore Alec Green (Media, Pa./Strath
Haven) and junior Bruce Osborn (Sayre, Pa./Sayre
Area) won singles matches at fifth- and sixth-flight,
respectively. Green took a 6-3, 6-2 match, and
Osborn went 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Osborn leads SU with 10 singles wins this
season (10-1). Fitzsimmons is close behind with
nine (9-4).
The Fitzsimmons/Haaland
pairing leads the team with seven doubles wins this season (7-5).
The Hickey/Quadrini duo is 6-4
this season.
