SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior midfielder
Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS)
tallied a game-high eight points to lead host Susquehanna past
Goucher College, 17-7, in a Landmark Conference women's lacrosse
game at Sassafras Fields on April 24.
Susquehanna (10-5, 3-1 Landmark) scored the first goal just 26
seconds into the game before Goucher (6-9, 1-3 Landmark) tied the
game 4 minutes, 6 seconds later. After the contest was knotted
again, this time at 2, SU ran off 11 straight goals to end the
first half with a 13-2 advantage. For the rest of the game, Goucher
could not bring to difference to less than nine goals.
Wright scored a game-high six goals, including
three in a row, and dished out two assists. She also won a
game-high six draw controls, scooped up two ground balls and caused
two turnovers. Wright is now tied for the SU
single-season record in draw controls with 56. Kristen Reineke '05
posted 56 draw controls in 2005.

Phoebe Nicholls (Princeton, N.J./Rutgers Prep)
netted the first Crusaders goal and finished with three scores and
two assists on the day. SU's freshman midfielder Lindsey
Derstine (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) handed out two
assists and scored back-to-back goals in a 2:31 span.
Sophomore attacks Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James
Caldwell) and Ally Bauer (Kinnelon,
N.J./Kinnelon) each registered two goals and an assist in
the win. One of Dyer's goals came from a free
position with 4:33 left in the first half. Bauer
(35) and Dyer (32) rank second and third,
respectively, in goals scored this year for the Crusaders.
Wright leads the team with 36.
Crusaders junior attack Kirsten Detwiler (Montchanin,
Del./Wilmington Friends) scored a goal off of an assist
from Wright and assisted on one of
Wright's six tallies. Freshman attack
Alicia Large (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) scored
the final SU goal of the game with 7:03 remaining.
Freshman midfielder Emily Walsh (Ringwood, N.J./DePaul
Catholic) had an assist on the day, and sophomore defender
Brittany McCann (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) picked
up a game-high-tying seven ground balls and caused a game-high six
turnovers.
Freshman Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye
Falls-Lima) played all 60 minutes in net and made a
game-high-tying eight saves to pick up her ninth win of the
season.
