FREDERICK, Md. -- Susquehanna University's freshman attack
Sean Ledwick (Weston, Conn./Weston) tallied a
game-high five points to help visiting Susquehanna top Hood
College, 10-5, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at Thomas
Athletic Field on April 28.
Ledwick netted a game-high-tying three goals and
dished out a game-high two assists. He also scooped up a team-high
seven ground balls. Ledwick's first goal came
during a man-up advantage with 13 minutes, 5 seconds left in the
second quarter. Freshman midfielder Tylere Fritts (Chatham,
N.J./Chatham HS) assisted on the goal.
Susquehanna (8-7 overall) trailed Hood (6-11 overall), 2-1, after
the first quarter but answered with three goals in the second
period to gain a slim, 4-3 advantage going into halftime. The SU
lead held through the third quarter, 6-5. A strong final 15 minutes
allowed the Crusaders to run away with the game, netting four goals
in the final period (three within a 2:32 span).
SU's sophomore midfielder Billy Spack
(Arlington, Va./Yorktown) scored the first goal of the
game, unassisted, just 39 seconds into the contest.
Spack netted three goals in the game--one in the
first period, another in the second and the third in the final
quarter.
Sophomore midfielder Luke Delavan (Madison,
N.J./Madison) registered two goals in the contest, one on
a man-up opportunity with 12:30 left in the game. Teammate and
sophomore attack Tim Pastore (Ridgewood,
N.J./Ridgewood) assisted on the goal. That duo hooked up
earlier in the second quarter for a goal but in reverse order
(Pastore from Delavan).
Pastore also picked up four ground balls in the
game.
SU's sophomore attack Dustin Breakey (Mechanicsburg,
Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded his team-leading 31st goal
of the season on another man-up chance with just 49 seconds left in
the game.
Junior defender Jimmy Warburton (Chatham, N.J./Chatham
HS) scooped up two ground balls and also assisted on
Ledwick's second goal with 9:09 left in the third
quarter.
Crusaders junior midfielder Ryan Oakes (North Yarmouth,
Maine/Cheverus) won a game-high-tying eight faceoffs.
Freshman Blake Middendorf (Wayne, Pa./Radnor)
played the first 15 minutes of action and stopped five shots before
being replaced by sophomore Jordan Daney (Wynnewood,
Pa./Lower Merion). Daney guarded the net
for the final 45 minutes and stopped five shots to earn his second
win of the season. He also picked up six ground balls.
Susquehanna scored three times in six man-up chances and had 26
successful clears in 39 tries.
