MADISON, N.J. -- Susquehanna University ended its 2009-10
season with an 8-1 loss to host Drew University in the Landmark
Conference women's tennis semifinals at William E. and Carol G.
Simon Forum and Athletic Center on May 4.
Susquehanna (8-6 overall), the No. 4 seed in the Landmark
championships, earned its point at sixth-flight singles. No.
1-seeded Drew (11-3 overall) swept the doubles matches and will now
play No.3-seeded Moravian College in the conference title match on
Saturday, May 8.
Moravian (12-5 overall) upset No.2-seeded The University of
Scranton (9-7 overall), 5-2, on May 4.
Sophomore Cassie Zerbe (Berwick, Pa./Berwick
Area) was SU's winner. Zerbe was ahead,
6-5, before her opponent retired from the match.
Competition was scheduled to be played outdoors, but poor
weather forced the matches inside.
The individual victory gives Zerbe her
team-leading 11th singles win of the season.
