FROSTBURG, Md. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball
team traveled to Frostburg, Md. to compete in the Frostburg State
Tournament and came away with three wins over the two days of
competition.
On Friday, SU (6-4) recorded a 3-1 win over Marietta (21-25,
25-20, 35-33, 25-14) and followed that with a 3-0 blanking of
Gallaudet (25-21, 25-22, 25-20).
The Crusaders split their matches on Saturday, falling 3-0 to
Geneva (22-25, 22-25, 21-25) before rebounding to win the finale
3-0 over Capital (25-18, 32-30, 25-23).
Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
finished with 50 kills in the four matches, with double-digit kill
totals in three of the four matches. Emily Carson
(Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) added 49 of her own to go
along with 41 digs, as she picked up a double-double in both
matches on Friday afternoon.
Shona St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South
Manor) racked up 146 assists during the weekend, including
45 in the opening match.
SU's first and final matches both saw sets go to extra
points. On Friday, the Crusaders came out victorious in a 35-33
third-set win over Marietta. On Saturday, SU captured a 32-30
second-set decision over Capital before closing out the match and
the weekend with a 25-23 in the third and final set against
Capital.
For her performance over the weekend, Jankiewicz earned
All-Tournament honors.
