SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University's freshman
forward Marissa DeParto (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian
Hills) netted her first goal of the season in double OT to
give Susquehanna a 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley College at
Sassafras Fields on Sept. 18.
DeParto capitalized on an open net after the LVC
(3-4-1 overall) goalkeeper ran out to contest a shot by sophomore
defender Tara Brancato (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove
Area) in the 110th minute of play. The deflected shot
rolled out to DeParto, who was trailing on the
play, and her kick from 25 yards out found the back of the net and
gave SU (3-3-0 overall) a hard fought win with just 43 seconds left
in the game.
LVC got on the board first with a goal in the 36th minute after a
centering pass slipped through the hands of Crusaders'
freshman goalkeeper Rachel Norbuts (Woodstown,
N.J./Woodstown) and found another Flying Dutchmen player
to finish off the pass.
SU's senior defender Caitlin Murphy (Rutherford,
N.J./Rutherford) notched her second career goal to tie the
game up at 1, in the 69th minute of action. Murphy
received a pass from junior midfielder Hadley Elsenbaumer
(Fogelsville, Pa./Parkland) and her shot attempt from 30
yards out was too tall for the LVC goalie to reach.
Norbuts improved her record to 3-3-0 on the
season by making six saves in all 109:17 of action.
The entire game was evenly matched, as both teams took 14 shots,
but SU held a slim 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Derby), 7 p.m.
