WASHINGTON D.C. -- Susquehanna University's senior
midfielder Brandon Eisenhart (Mechanicsburg,
Pa./Mechanicsburg) tallied the game-winning goal in the
87th minute to give SU a 3-2 win over host The Catholic University
of America in the 2010 Landmark Conference opener on Sept. 25.
Eisenhart capitalized on a saved shot from junior
forward Joey Stellato (Convent Station,
N.J./Morristown) to give the Crusaders (5-3-0, 1-0-0) a
hard-fought conference win in the 87th minute.
SU scored the first goal of the contest in the 24th minute on a
goal by sophomore defender Brandon Kates (Cherry Hill,
N.J./Cherry Hill) on another Stellato
assist just after a yellow card was issued.
Catholic (4-5-0, 0-1-0 overall) tied the game just 18 seconds
later on a penalty kick. The Cardinals then took the lead in the
65th minute before SU notched the final two scores.
Crusaders senior forward Jim Robertiello (Chester,
N.J./West Morris Mendham) brought the game back to another
tie when his penalty kick attempt was saved, but he followed up the
shot and deposited the ball in the back of the net with just over
eight minutes left to play.
Senior B.J. Merriam (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern
Regional) picked up his fifth win of the season by making
two saves in all 90 minutes of action.
SU and Catholic each took nine shots in the game, but the
Crusaders held the edge in corners, 8-5.
