LANCASTER, Pa. –A near 20-day stretch of road games
for the Susquehanna women's volleyball team finally came to
an end on Saturday. The Crusaders wrapped-up play at the Franklin
& Marshall Invitational with a split on Saturday to grab their
11th victory of the fall.
Susquehanna (11-7) opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Lebanon
Valley (26-24, 27-25, 25-22) before falling to host F&M by a
score of 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 7-15).
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell)
and Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom)
combined for 23 kills apiece to pace SU. Carson added a
double-double in both matches with 10 digs against LVC and 15
against F&M.
Carson was also active on the net, tallying a combined seven
blocks on the day, including five block assists in the win over
Lebanon Valley.
Shona St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South
Manor) set up the SU offense with 36 assists in the first
match followed by 45 against F&M. Kelly O'Brien
(Mastic, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) played solid defense
with a team-high 26 digs in each match.
In the finale against the Diplomats, M.C. Llareus
(Edgewater, Md./South River) and Kaylee Monga
(Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) also reached double-digit
kill totals with 10 apiece
Carson and Jankiewicz were named to the All-Tournament Team for
their play during over the weekend as SU finished 2-1 in its three
matches.
Next match: Susquehanna hosts McDaniel on Tuesday at 7
p.m.
