Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – It only seems fitting that a player who
wears No. 3 would hold the school record from three-pointers made
in a season and career. That is exactly what Susquehanna senior
Erika Barron (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area)
accomplished on Friday night in a 65-51win over Drew.
Barron set the record for three-pointers made in a career earlier
this season and set a program record for threes made in a season
with five on Friday night. She now has 47 this season and broke the
previous mark of 43 set by Amy Harrington '02 in 2002.
The senior was 5-for-10 from long range and finished with a
game-high-tying 20 points. She made one three in the first half and
scored the first six points of the second half to tie the game at
30.
SU (8-9,3-3) trailed Drew (8-8, 1-5) after the first 20 minutes,
30-24, but went on a 10-0 run to start the second half and only
trailed by one point (35-34) for the remainder of the game.
Besides Barron's stellar, second-half play, sophomore
Shannon Grunwald (Neshanic Station,
N.J./Somerville) came off the bench to score 16 points, 11
of which came in the first half.
Sophomores Gina Palazzi (Newfoundland,
Pa./Wallenpaupack) and Rachel Schaible (Blue Bell,
Pa./Wissahickon) dominated the boards on both sides of the
court with 25 combined rebounds. Palazzi pulled down 10 boards and
added 14 points, while Schaible grabbed a game-high 15
rebounds.
The Crusaders shot 9-of-31 in the first half but turned around to
shoot 13-for-27 in the second half to change the outcome of the
contest.
