Md. – The Susquehanna University men's basketball
notched a road victory at Goucher College on Saturday night, 65-60.
Head coach Frank Marcinek also reached a career milestone,
capturing his 300th career victory.
Junior Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside)
led all players with 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field.
Spencer register 15 of his points in the first
half to give the Crusaders (9-11, 5-4) a 36-32 halftime lead.
SU jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game against Goucher
(4-12, 2-7) but was outscored the Gophers, 17-1 over a 7:13 span to
fall behind, 17-7.
The Crusaders regained the lead, 31-30, with 1:54 left in the half
on a pair of free throws by junior Jason Dawson (Somerset,
N.J./Rutgers Prep).
Goucher regained the lead, 43-42, with 11:52 in the second half but
never led for the remainder of the game.
Senior Rob Estep (York, Pa./West York) and
sophomore Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./St. Thomas
More) each scored double-digits in the win.
Estep netted 12 points and pulled down six
rebounds. Pannell added 10 points, five boards,
three assists and two steals.
Junior Trevor Williamson (McEwensville, Pa./Warrior
Run) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and chipped in
four points
SU was 23-for-50 from the field, while Goucher shot 20-for-51 from
the floor. Neither team shot well from three-point ranger, as the
Crusaders were 2-of-8 and the Gophers were 5-of-18.
