SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A well-rounded effort from the entire
Susquehanna women's basketball team led the Crusaders to a
67-58 win over Landmark Conference foe Goucher on Friday night.
Just one player, Erika Barron (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua
Area), netted double-digit points for SU (7-6, 2-0), as
the senior finished with 14. However, 11 different players scored
at least two points as SU improved to 2-0 in league action and
grabbed its third-straight victory.
The Crusaders dished out 14 assists with a game-high four from
senior Samantha Cartwright (Cranford,
N.J./Cranford), who also added eight points, four rebounds
and one block. Sophomore Gina Palazzi (Newfoundland,
Pa./Wallenpaupack) fell one point and three boards shy of
a double-double as she scored nine points to go along with seven
rebounds, three of which were of the offensive variety.
SU shot an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc and sank 41
percent of its field goals. In addition, the Susquehanna bench
out-scored Goucher's (0-10, 0-2) by an impressive 32-14

(Neshanic Station, N.J./Somerville) snapped that tie with
a three-pointer at the eight-minute mark for a 17-14 score.

with 4:17 remaining. Barron's three-pointer with seven
seconds on the clock kept SU ahead by double-digits (31-21) at the
half.
SU led by double-digits for all but the final four seconds of
the game. Freshman Amarra Boone's (Schwenksville,
Pa./Perkiomen Valley) jumper with 16:22 on the clock put
the Crusaders up by a game-high 20 points (41-21) and Nikki
Schneck's (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East)
three-pointer with 8:35 to play kept it a 20-point game at
54-34.
The Gophers were able to close out the half on a 9-2 run but it
was too little too late as Susquehanna held on for the nine-point
margin of victory.
