Volleyball Secures Second Seed

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With a 3-1 win at Catholic on Sunday afternoon, the Susquehanna volleyball squad clinched the number two seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament while also extending its win streak to eight straight matches.

After dropping the first set 25-18, the Crusaders (13-13, 5-1) won the final three sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) over Catholic (21-4, 4-2)

Four players had at least 10 kills, led by 16 from Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell). Carson also had 26 digs (second on the team) to go alone with five block assists.

Joining Carson with double-digit kills were Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) (12), Jess Holm (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) (10) and Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) (13).

Senior Kate Reese (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) led the defensive effort with 29 digs while Samantha Adler (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.) added 23 and Dana Kreutzer (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) chipped in 17. Adler also had a match-high 49 assists to complement her 23 digs.

As a team, SU racked up 22 blocks (19 assisted) to Catholic's six.

The Crusaders return to the court on Oct. 19 with a 7:30 p.m. match at PSU-Altoona.
